With hot summer days are just around the corner this is a perfect opportunity to try fresh fruit popsicles! Be prepared for the heat with a healthy snack that is just as cool and refreshing as it is good for you. A popsicle made out of only fresh fruit has all the benefits of fruit and it’s fun to eat. This is great for picky eaters who won’t eat a lot of fruits or vegetables….either child or adult. (we all know someone). I’m not sure this even qualifies as a recipe, it’s basically frozen fruit made into a fresh fruit popsicle.
Not only does my son have food allergies, he is picky and also has a mouth device on making it tough for him to eat almost anything. He is a texture person and hates most soft foods. He said something the other day that really made me think, he would eat more foods if they just had a different consistency.
So, I started thinking, his mouth hurts and he needs something soft and he likes cold. He barely eats any fruits, I thought maybe if I could blend them into a juice form and freeze it he would think it was a regular popsicle and eat it.
I didn’t want to put any extra sugar or sweeteners in it because I wanted to see if fruit by itself would be enough…I like plain fruit. So, I tried and it worked. He ate a mango pop on the first day, loved it and would have never ever tried a mango.
This is by far the easiest recipe ever.Print
Easy and fun way to eat your fruit.
- 1 cup blueberries
- 1 cup blackberries
- 2 mangos
- 1 cup cubed seedless watermelon
- 3 kiwi fruits peeled
- Clean and dry all fruit. I blended each separately until they had a liquid consistency. The watermelon will liquefy while the mango will be creamy.
- Pour the blended fruit into Popsicle containers. Mine made two each for a total of 8.
- Place in freezer and freeze a couple of hours or until frozen.
I used Popsicle containers that hold 4 oz each for a total of 8 Popsicles.
Originally I thought that making fruit popsicles by blending tons of fruit was going to be too time-consuming, a lot of work, and way too much cleanup. I used a good blender which did make it easier. I made all of these flavors in less than twenty minutes.
I stuck with one single fruit per popsicle mainly to get my son used to each fruit individually. Switch it up and combine different fruits for blended flavor. This is also a great way to use up any fresh fruit that may be getting too ripe. Even my kids like fresh fruit popsicles over regular store-bought any day! There are a lot of different kinds of molds that are dishwasher safe and easy to clean.
