Nothing compliments a turkey better than fresh cranberry sauce. The right balance of tart and sweetness tastes amazing with a juicy slice of turkey. This recipe is my favorite, you can tweak it to make it your own.
- 1 bag fresh Cranberries
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 tbsp fresh squeezed lemon
Clean and rinse cranberries and set aside. In a medium saucepan bring water, sugars and lemon to a simmer and stir. Add in cranberries and cook for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. They will pop as they cook. You may want to add more sugar.
I start with a bag of cranberries, 1/2 cup granulated sugar, 1/2 cup brown sugar and 1/2 cup water. I taste throughout cooking and add more sugar as needed.
I came up with this recipe by trial and error. I have found that sometimes you may need more sugar or lemon depending on the cranberries. Sample as it cooks and make it just the way you like.
